Skamolex vermiculite material is an ideal surface for all your soldering and welding tasks. Increasingly popular as an alternative to charcoal blocks, this material beautifully reflects heat and is lightweight and rigid, making a sturdy surface on which to work. Skamolex has a high mechanical strength, is easy to cut and shape to create custom configurations when necessary and, at the same time, is soft enough that you can insert pins or fine-gauge wire into the block to hold workpieces in place while you work.
