Finally got around to making a heating plate for dopping my stones at home. Had some aluminium checker plate left over, cut into a triangle, used some shelf brackets I had, attached with rivets and bobs ur uncle. Works well, perhaps a little too well, stones got real hot real quick. But just need to take care, heat wax up before putting stones on plate.
So the next machine is pretty much completed. Couple of springs to fit to keep belt tension and prevent motor jumping and its all done. Definitely makes a difference that the speed is significantly lower the the grinding machine for polishing. Going to put a cover over motor and belts too for safety. Rock On.
So over the last couple of months I have been building my own cabbing Machine. I have fitted the polishing head this week and tested it, Definitely works well. I feel the head spins a bit fast but I am building a separate polisher/sander so i will slow it down to a better speed. I am using Diamond Grinding Wheels and Expandable Sanding Drums, all 8". My water system recirculates the water, (good for level 3 water restrictions :) ). I will talk more about this over the next few blogs. If anyone is interested in doing this themselves, contact...
Well hello all, this being the first post for us i just want to say hi and we look forward to helping you make delightful Cabs. I am creating a gallery on this store that will have many of the Cabs I have created and others from our local rock-hound club - Townsville Gem and Mineral Club. If any of you would like to add something let me know. Rock On Cabbers.
